Ma Teresa non vuole che il suo uomo debba soffrire per causa sua. Nell'amore fideistico e assoluto che prova per lui ingloba anche la sua religione: vuole a tutti i costi diventare ebrea. La storia di questa donna originale e commovente si snoda fino al terribile 1938 delle leggi razziali fasciste, attraverso la ricostruzione avvincente delle vicende familiari, dei cambiamenti politici e di costume dell'Italia.
