  • Fun Harryhausen romp, lots of monsters and action.

    Well, first off, the more recent VHS versions of this film feature a no-frills stereo soundtrack that gives you a little bit of separation in the music, so they sound a little better, ironically, than the DVD, which is in monaural audio. Additionally, this is just about everyone's least favorite Harryhausen Sinbad film, including, as far as I am aware, Ray Harryhausen himself. It was put together a bit more hastily than the previous two Sinbad movies, and by this time (1977) inflation had made it more difficult to get decent production value out of their dollar. So this film looks a bit rough around the edges. But still--and this is especially true if you were a kid in the 70's, like me, and saw this in the theatres--there is a lot on offer here.
