Needs some practice to get the most from it. It's slow and pricey but can achieve excellent results.
Like other Tormek items, its quality is good and it can produce lovely sharp drills. For larger drills it is slow (best part of an hour for my first drill bit, a 20mm) although I imagine that once shaped by a Tormek the drill will sharpen in a much shorter time next time. The basic sharpening of the main cutting edge pair is quick and precise. The creating of the second pair of faces to form the 4 facet cutting point requires a bit of skill else the point is not achieved. There is much more metal to grind off, but then you need to ensure you don't go too far and this part has to be judged by grinding bit by bit. This last little bit I found quite tricky and it needs some practice so as not to overshoot. I also disliked the way the rotating wheel tended to lift the drill bit away from its ... Expensive but well executed!
Thought for a while about buying this, expensive for what it is, very well made and finished though. Takes time to get used to it, but does the job well once familiar, will be a boon to all those with blunt drills knocking around.
