Product Information

Rod Serling branched out from his TWILIGHT ZONE television series in the early 1970s with NIGHT GALLERY. The material was darker than most Serling-fans had come to expect, with plenty of horror and creepy chills included in each episode. A constant throughout the show was the eerie beginning, which would involve a painting in an old museum depicting events which were about to unfold. Serling provided a suitably spooky introduction to each tale, and then a variety of special guests actors would play out the action.

    Night Gallery - Anthology Series Of The Unusual And Macabre

    As a huge fan of anthology series and portmanteau horror films I was excited to see Rod Serling's follow up to the Twilight Zone. Alas Serling did not have the same level of controlling influence over the show as he would have liked and as a result the quality suffered, including far too many short and frivolous episodes. Overall the series is not of the highest quality but some individual story segments are terrific, kind of similar to buying an album which has a lot of filler material but has enough great songs to make it worthwhile. The show is significant for launching the career of Stephen Spielberg, and other notable directors include John Badham and Jeannot Schwarz. For what it's worth my favourite episodes of the first season include:- The Cemetery ( Roddy Mcdowall and Ossie ...

    night gallery series 1

    we all know the twilight zone is one of the classic tv shows of all time, but after watching each episode a dozen times , this night gallery dvd gives a chance to watch rod serling circa 1970s , a sort of twilight zone in colour , maybe not quite as good , but still a good series for anyone who wondered what rod serling was up to when the twilight zone finished , i enjoyed it and believe sci-fi and horror fans would too . great early 70s hokum.
