Additional Information
Isolated in a traditional English country manor, two rich orphans--Miles (Christopher Ellis) and Flora (Verna Harvey)--have only their nurse, their housekeeper, and a strange gardener named Quint (Marlon Brando) to provide them with company and care. The youngsters are particularly intrigued by Quint's mannerisms, intuition, and omniscience. Witnessing Quint and his prurient relationship with their nurse, Miss Jessel (Stephanie Beacham), profoundly influences their budding sexual desires, and soon the children begin to mimic their caretakers. Things take a drastic turn however, when the odd parental figures seem as if they're going to split up and the children take violent measures to secure an eternal union.<BR>Teetering somewhere between psychodrama and psychedelia, THE NIGHTCOMERS is an aesthetically captivating film. Michael Winner breathes life into a whimsical story unveiling the origin of the children from the Henry James novel, TURN OF THE SCREW. Brando's performance as the seemingly wholesome gardener is eerie, and the shocking ending of THE NIGHTCOMERS is truly haunting.

  • Classic Brando.Remastered.

The Nightcomers DVD.I watched this at the cinema back in 1972 when it was released. Marlon Brando is Brilliant.Yes it may be a little dated for some of you younger viewers. But its still a chilling story. Picture quality is remastered along with the sound by Kinowelt. Who do a fantastic job of restoring older movies.Twist in the tale at the ending. Keeps you guessing.Michael Winners Classic. Buy it.If you can get it. Highly recommended.

  • the nightcomers (Marlon Brando)

I was surprised to find this dvd on e-bay, i have wanted to see it for a long-time, being a fan of Marlan Brando + Michael Winner. It was good to see Brando in a film directed by a good british director + british cast, i think also it was perhaps a quite low budget movie, as i don't think hollywood were involved. The performance by Brando was in The Last Tango in Paris style, which he seems to enjoy + i like him too that way, as he crosses the bounderies in different ways, being funny, sad, cruel + most of all defiant. There are some intence scenes with Stephanie Beacham, who holds her own with Brando + also the two young actors impress as the innocence in the film, the film is an extremely powerful one + one that Brando fans need to see, if they want to see the Master on form.
