    Great little camera.

    Although old this camera is a delight to use and produces good quality images. The bundled flash gun integrates nicely with the camera giving the option of bounce flash. Very pleased.

    Sony DSC-S85: Learn photography and post processing

    I am waiting to gather money to buy a DSLR (like Pentax K10 or Nikon D80) and waiting this, I bought that Sony. First, the pros: - Lens, nice one with good aperture (2-2.8) makes the camera nice for portrait - Good video quality - Battery, that seems to be quite long (but that's a pity that it does not use common AA or AAA battery, but a dedicated one) -not so slow turning on ( i expected longer time) - Manual control for shutter, aperture, focus, iso, exposure compensation - Flash power selectable (3 steps) - Macro - Low dimension Image, but no problem in doing "large" print BAD: - shooting time, apparently completely random from short to long one - Awful color balance (You have to work out with the computer to show beautiful color... striking blue against green turns out pale blue on ...

    An oldie but goldie

    The Sony S85 was one of the 1st 4megapixel cameras. In America it was well known for being the 1st 4meg camera to sell under $1000. Even in today's market dominated by 9+megapixel units it is still a very good piece of kit. It has an excellent fast f2 Carl Zeiss lens; an excellent image processor and has a quality build. Because of the lens+processor+4meg combination it delivers excellent photographs. It was made for the serious amateur rather than holiday snappers as it has some semi-pro features like shutter and aperture priority and fully manual exposure modes; dioptre correction for the optical viewfinder; AE lock; spot metering and fantastic handling. To me there are no downsides to this camera but there are 2 things you need to know: it will only accept the older memory sticks (not ...

    Sony cybershot DSC

    Sony cybershot-DSC As im not really into tekky-cameras etc I was looking for point and shoot and an ease of use good camera,and after reading numerous reviews i chose the DSC..After a few run-outs with it the dsc has been a big hit with me.Great pics,really good detail and the lcd screen is user friendly too. I havent used the Movie mode as yet as i have camcorder so cant really comment on this device. A big plus for me is the on-board lithium battery which you charge at the mains and lasts much much longer than normal cells. The only drawback i can see is the size of the memory card(128mb)which if you was say on holiday would maybe be an issue as it holds about 100 snaps. Overall the dsc is ideal for me and a quality camera.

    Old,large,heavy.Hard to buy mem cards for.Good photos!

    I am not technically minded and owned one of these cameras years ago. Hence I know how they work! I lost mine. This one has a slow moving lense, which dosent always go back in, I guess where it's been well used! The memory card is not much use and I have been trying to replace it, with difficulty as this type is different from similar sticks. Hopefully I will find some in time, probably second hand on e.bay! I am still glad that I bought the camera and just hope that I will find the correct memory card as the one I have will only take one photo at a time!
