Another spin-off of the Star Trek series, this time focusing on the Federation starship USS Voyager as its crew bands together with a group of Maquis rebels to return home from the far-flung Delta Quadrant. This set includes all 15 episodes from season one of the the Emmy-award winning series including the feature length first episode 'The Caretaker'. When Starfleet Security Officer Tuvok, working undercover aboard a vessel commandeered by a band of renegade freedom fighters, disappears the U.S.S. Voyager, under the guidance of Captain Kathryn Janeway (Star Trek's very first female captain), is dispatched to find him. During hot pursuit, both ships are mysteriously transported to the Delta Quadrant, 70,000 light years away. Now the only hope for escape is an unlikely collaboration between the two crews.

    Voyager forever

    The best Star Trek series since Star Trek TOS in my opinion about the star ship 'Voyager' and its crew lost in a distant region of space, an engaging complete story in every episode, where meeting a new species determined to steal Voyagers technology is a common occurrence, with a long running 'journey home' storyline throughout the series. The characters are likable and entertaining. Kate Mulgrew (Mrs Columbo, 1979) stars as Captain Janeway.

    Most enjoyable series and yes there were some 'naff' episodes especially in the later seasons but the idea of exploring space must always appeal; it's a pity it will never happen as we will kill this planet and ourselves along with it, long before we can get out there. Probably just as well because we would just destroy everything we found anyway.

    An excellent opening season

    Although the first season of "Star Trek: Voyager" was quite short (only 16 episodes, whereas all the succeeding seasons were of 26 episodes each), it provided an excellent opening to the drama and engaged with the characters well.
