About this product

Product Information

Marcos (Marcos Hernandez) is a chauffeur who lives an impoverished existence with his family in Mexico City. His day job offers him a glimpse of a world far beyond his reach, as he drives the fabulously wealthy and beautiful daughter of a general around the town. Fed up with his meagre existence, Marcos turns to crime, but bungles the chance to make his family wealthy and instead puts all their lives under threat. Directed by Carlos Reygadas (JAPON), BATTLE IN HEAVEN paints a stark contrast between the lives of the different classes of Mexico City's citizens.

Item reasonably priced; carefully packaged; and, its condition was 'as described'. No tracking information provided: I now have it but, unfortunately, Royal Mail took almost a full week to deliver it.

  • To follow up Japón, Reygadas goes even further into Mex

To follow up Japón, Reygadas goes even further into Mexican metaphysics with another intriguingly shot film that dares to confront us with imagery that's both explicit and unexpected. But this time he loses us in the process. Marcos (Hernandez) and his wife (Ruiz) are in a bit of trouble. The baby they kidnapped from a friend (Ramirez), for a bit of spare cash, has died. Marcos works as a bodyguard for a general, whose wild-child daughter Ana (Mushkadiz) has a side business as a prostitute, simply because she likes it. When Marcos confesses the kidnapping to Ana, to take advantage of her services, he realises he has crossed a line. Soon he's doing things he never dreamt of, including joining a mass pilgrimage to the Mexico City Basilica. The plot is simple and fairly undefined, so it's ...

  • Pleased

Pleased with movie. It allows me to check the evolution of the directorial style of the same fellow that directed Japon.

  • Battle In Heaven

The story line is thin but very good, but the child kidnapping and death was not shown so you'll be wandering through the beginning of the movie what the characters were talking about,The direction and cinematography are excellent. The sex scenes although briefly, are great showing real sex though no actual penetration shown..Great acting from the lead actor and actress named Amapola, shes lovely and showed excellent acting for a beginner...OVERALL the selling point are the explicit scenes and excellent cinematography. Its worth the money you spend for this dvd..........review by csn_young2006

  • Battle In Heaven

This film has a severe lack of dialogue, and the english subtitles don't always translate everything the characters are saying, which may be off putting for someone who doesn't understand the language. The storyline was pretty thin, and as soon as you think the film is about to start....... The end credits appear on screen.

  • true to nature of repressed man

a most strange film but the concept of human emotion and behavior is interesting the directors interview is good
