Product Information

A comedy series about a group of banged-up petty crooks and the family, friends - and fiends! - who visit them each week in their natural environment: a low security prison. Set almost entirely in the prison visiting room, the comic tension flows from a three-way dynamic between the prisoners, their family and friends, and the under-valued prison officers. It's about relationships under pressure and these 'windows' - the breaks to the monotonies of life which each visiting time brings - provide the stories within the programme. Each episode exposes a different prisoner and his world. This may be a prison but the comedy is always warm, slightly ridiculous and surprisingly accessible. The hilarious characters of the prison exist in an insular environment where unique and bizarre rules apply, but where you'll find the recognisable problems, issues and emotions of the outside world.

    The Visit - Is it a con?

    In the style of Early Doors but not written by Craig Cash this would make an excellent stage comedy as it all takes place on one set - the prison visiting room. May sound boring but it definitely is not! Excellent script about the lives of the inmates and their visiting families. Series revolves around a number of characters, not just one main star. Plenty of one liners but also storylines that carry on through more than one episode. Sometimes subtley funny and sometimes, in your, face hilarious. Can't wait for series 2!

    Excellent British Comedy

    A fantastic contibution and prime mover to the history of British comedy. If you loved Royle Family and Early Doors or anything else with John Henshaw then you will most certainly enjoy another adaptation of contemporary modern working class life within the northern territories of the United Kingdom.
