Buscemi a winner in TREES LOUNGE
One of the many aspects that makes TREES LOUNGE so accessible and believable is that we all know at least some of the characters who populate this cinematic gem. Steve Buscemi scores big with his portrayal of the 30's angst experienced by his character of Tommy, a loser who is in a spin downwards. It's not that Tommy is a bad guy; he just doesn't seem to be able to connect the dots which enable most people to understand just why their lives don't seem to be working. However....don't despair! Buscemi's superb supporting cast provide the color, drama and bittersweet humor that make this an experience that one can enjoy again and again and still find things to enjoy. The Widescreen Edition (sadly, out-of-print to date) contains an additional running ... This is a wonderful, realistic slice-of-life entertainment. The sort of film which doesn't try so much to be a movie, but rather lets you enter the world of a bunch of crazy, lovable characters and emerge unscathed, but richer for the opportunity of being able to briefly get to know the people of TREES LOUNGE..... without the hangover!! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, FIVE STARS!

Fascinating character study
Love the characters. Dark side of life study. If you think your life is bad......well visit Trees lounge. Very similar to Hysterical Blindness.

One of the biggest underdogs!
I first heard of this movie when my step father told me if I like Steve Buscemi I have to see "the trees". It is not a happy movie, nor do the cast find what they are looking for. Yet, it is a movie that people can watch and say "hey, I may be down, but they are worse off than I am." When I bought this movie, I hadn't watched it in years, and my wife was skeptical, but she sat through the whole thing and ended up liking it. HAVE A DRINK
I have always lOVED this movie a lot, even though its not for everyone. Steve Buscemi plays a barfly with little ambition, but he's very likable. While this is a "bar movie" I wouldn't compare it to "Barfly" with Mickey Rourke. I really liked both movies, but for different reasons. Daniel Baldwin plays a (surprize) anger-challenged semi-psycho and does a good job.. I like this movie a lot. Marvelous depiction of alcoholism & denial.
The humanity of all the flawed characters is aptly depicted in each scene by a 5 star cast,especially actor Steve Buscemi who has never disappointed me..I thnk I've seen everything he's been in. I hope he receives all the recognition he deserves..Wake Up Hollywood !!
