After playing a mild-mannered funeral home director in SIX FEET UNDER, Michael C. Hall makes a smooth transition to serial killer in this original crime drama. But the twist in this smart show is that Dexter chooses to prey only on other serial killers. As a child, Dexter is adopted by a cop (James Remar) who soon realises that his new son is no ordinary boy. Since Dexter is compelled to kill, his law-abiding father pushes him to choose his quarry in a way that will best benefit society. As Dexter grows older, he works as a blood splatter expert in Miami, giving him a close view of other murderers and their handiwork. Stylish and blackly comic, this drama is adapted from Jeff Lindsay's novel DARKLY DREAMING DEXTER. This release includes the entire first series, which largely focuses on Dexter's pursuit of the coldblooded Ice Truck Killer and his own efforts to evade detection.

    Really good boxset

    I bought this after missing it on TV, I've now watched the first season and I'm hooked! It's a different take on serial killers . Dexter is a serial killer but he only kills other serial killers or the worst of society he is a sociopath fitting in with society. Working by day as a forensic blood analyst by night a serial killer. I'm gripped and I'm looking forward to the next season. I would definitely recommend this. Easy watching not too gory give it a go, glad I bought it. šŸ˜†šŸ˜†šŸ˜†

    Sociopath

    For those who have seen Psych, flashbacks to childhood and paternal influence are in evidence. Acting as a Death Wish type vigilante ridding society of evil, Dexter via soliloquy explains his insensate condition whilst conveying the complexities of relationships, love and feelings. His problematic courtship of his equally troubled girlfriend, as well as that with work colleagues provide an often humorous angle to this blood- spattered series. Highly recommended.

    A great show,must see.

    Its a cracking show. You will end up rooting for Dexter, even though he is a serial killer, and a bit sick in the head. It can take a few episodes to get in to it, but it is well worth sticking with it, You won't disappointed.

    Not for me

    I love my DVDs/Boxset but this one did not do it for me. I'm glad I only bought Season 1, I only got to episode 2 & I have had enough. Sorry Dexter but not a favourite of mine.
