Just goes to show that good things can come out of bad situations... Funny and good hearted, but too much use of the f-bomb, but I've heard worse... Overall a good show !!!

I saw a few clips on Youtube and was more amused to the youtube than the actual DVD itself. I wish there should be more substance . In the end, the DVD does not have a happy ending why he got married but in the youtube , it does show how they are happily married.

Cheech goes to see his cousin from Mexico who is working illegally at a LA factory. The Immigration conducts a bust on the place and his cousin escapes, but he gets busted. He was born in East LA, but doesn't have any identification on him so they deport him to Mexico. He doesn't even speak Spanish. This is the beginning of many various attempts to get back into the USA. Nothing seems to work, so he seeks out a coyote for help. He can get him home, but it costs thousands of dollars. Cheech tries to earn money, but is treated just like he was some dumb alien, cheated and screwed at every attempt. As time wears on, he begins to see the human face of others who are trying to get to the US also. They all have dreams too. It might only be a dream of being a maid, or some other menial job, but it is an opportunity of going to America, where the "Streets are Paved with Gold". Finally figuring out how to beat the system, and return, Cheech gets across the border through a tunnel an comes up out of a drain in the middle of a Mexican parade. Good movie, funny with a serious side.Read full review

I remember seing this film in the late 80's and it was hilarious then, fresh, original and very entertaining. It is one of the most funniest comedy films ever made, and is definitely a cult comedy classic. The story tells of a latina guy called Rudy played by comedian Cheech Marin, who one day accidently finds himself deported to Mexico, and has no way of getting back to East L.A. due to tough US Border controls, but through a series of hilarious comedy adventures eventually manages to. If you have not seen this film, you have not lived. Watch it today. Rating: 9 out of 10.
Born in East LA is not only a Mexican American but an all-time classic. It tackles a serious subject like illegal immigration in the United States, but in the unique and humorous way any Cheech & Chong movie can tackle it. The movie shows how Rudy (played by Cheech) has to deal with the problems that occur to people who get deported back to Mexico. As well as the things they do to return to the States. Although not illegal himself, without his ID in hand. Rudy needs to find a way to return home illegally. The movie has an interesting cast of characters that in all help Rudy find a way home. The movie might have been made in the 1980s but some of the things tackled in the movie still are true today. I just made it sound like a serious movie, but it really is a great comedy movie. I movie that all people can love, no matter what side you take on this issue. The DVD has aged well in the sense that the movie still looks good and acceptable to view on today's Smart TVs. Overall Born in East LA is one of those movies that the family can enjoy and has aged well after 3 decades from its originally release. I highly recommend this movie.Read full review

Right after the seen of the movie where Cheech Marin and everyone runs out towards the immigration officers that have been waiting all morning, everyone stampede and knock down the officers. the scene is cut out until the very and where Cheech Marines character and Dolores come out into the parade from the ground. I remember this movie very well and I definitely know that there is a major part of the movie that has been cut out. When purchasing this movie I was very much looking forward to seeing the entire movie. Do not understand why this happened. Very disappointed. There's also another part of the movie where it stops. About five seconds later it continues and plays the rest of the movie.

A very good movie which I just saw on the Sunday Afternoon Movies. A Mexican-American who was born in East LA goes to visit a relative who is working in a factory. At just that moment, the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service raids the place, sweeps up all the workers and deports them all to Mexico. The protagonist, who was not working there but just visiting, protests that he is a US Citizen, born in East LA, but the Immigration Officers do not believe him and he too is deported to Mexico. To make his problems worse, he was not carrying any ID with him at the time he was arrested and cannot prove that he is a US citizen, plus he happens to have the same name as a known illegal alien who has been arrested and deported nine times. Denied legal re-entry into the United States, he gets involved with a succession of con artists, people smugglers and fugitives from justice, all trying to sneak across the border to get to America. One point which I almost missed: When they first arrest the protagonist and he protests that he is a US Citizen, they ask him who the President of the US is. He replies, "That guy who starred in Death Valley Days, John Wayne". This is the wrong answer, and so they deport him. This movie was made in 1987 and at that time the US President was Ronald Reagan, who had in fact been the star of Death Valley Days. Although this is a comedy, it depicts a real situation which does happen from time to time. The INS does make mistakes and does occasionally deport US Citizens, who are then faced with the same situation as the protagonist in this movie.Read full review
this movie is a sattire comedy about the inmigration, even that this movie was made more than 15 yrs old, has a very actual subject about the same old problem that provides inmigration and the treatment that US border gives to illegals, has great comedy about LA. hommies, and how even US citizens looking as mexicans could be victims of racism, either way its a nice comedy movie to enjoy, this is my first review, i would say a a Must-have classic on Latin Comedy.
The movie was brand new. Sealed in New wrap. I love this movie. I watch it over and over because I think it's so funny! 😃
