I've tried everything... 1 Coffee grounds, hyped the little buggers up if anything. 2 Pouring diesel fuel down the hole, they didn't mind the smell. 3 Putting a hospipe down the hole, they came back. 4 A hose on the exhaust of my garden tractor. 5 Other sonic repellers. These worked and cleared my garden. I ended up buying 4 of these, and I've just purchased 2 more. YOU WILL NEED RECHARGABLE BATTERIES, they last about a week, two weeks max. Simply swap the batteries every weekend and check the motor works and still spins nice and free. The bearing on the electric motor will need a drop of WB40 every know and then for lubrication. Otherwize it binds and eventually won't work at all. No1 tip - Add 2 - 3 small ball bearings to the pointed tip of the spike. These rattle everytime the motor fires up and scare the moles to death. After 18 years I'm pleased to say I won the war without harming our fury friends. Read full review

After looking for days at these products, I found one sonic repeller description stating that these are good for clay soils, but can be ineffective in sandy or dry soils. Of course, I have sandy soil. Only found this info out after purchasing. All I can say is that this info is needed on all descriptions, very misleading if not....
