    Kitchen Table Wisdom is a gem!

    This is an inspiring and wonder full collection of stories. The author is a physician and counsellor. Her discovery, over arc of her training and practice, of the importance of personal connection with patients is amazing and heartrending and inspirational. I ordered this book, although I have read it before several times, to give to a friend. Then I found myself reading whole thing again before I sent it. A keeper! Can be read one chapter at a time or “eaten whole” ... the stories do heal.

    A great education in humanity and compassion

    I was introduced to this book during my Hospice training, and the ideas about compassion and presence that Remen writes about so eloquently have all proven to be true. I wish that this had been required reading in school! This book would be especially helpful for hospice workers, patients, medical students and professionals in the health care field. I recommend it to anyone who has experienced a sense of isolation in their daily life, and who wants to know how to connect more meaningfully with the people around them.

    Love it!A book you will want to keep close and read again.

    This book is calming and inspirational at the same time. It puts one in touch with their humanity, and makes one feel tha the world is unfolding as it should. I love this book, and the format of short vignettes makes it easy to pick up when you need a pick-me up. I love it and have bought several copies for friends.
