Bridal Wars - Movie
I bought Bridal Wars (movie) after watching it in the theater. The movie reminds me of my best friend and I growing up from kids and then us getting married. It is hoot of a movie - very cute! The movie plays on the feelings that we may actually have for our girlfriends, but would never actually act out. Well, this movie actually brings those actions to life. Bridal Wars is full of humor, but also includes heartfelt, touching moments as well - which allow me to reminisce of my younger years... The acting is mediocre, but it's a comedy - so it is as expected. Overall, I highly recommend this movie to all audiences. With minimal language, no "F" word, no nudity and very little to no sexuality, I would recommend this movie for young girls too. My husband has even ... Bride Wars
As always, Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson are good actors, but I was disappointed by this film. The ladies play lifelong best friends who have always dreamed of being married at the Plaza and being each others' maid of honor. When the wedding planner messes up and books their weddings on the same day at the same time, I found the resulting evil tricks they play on each other in hopes of getting the other to change her wedding date to be immature, cruel, and more sad than amusing. Hudson's character is a lawyer; you'd think she could successfully sue the wedding planner. Someone proposes the idea of a double wedding, but Hudson dismisses it without giving a logical reason, which leaves the impression she is too selfish to share the spotlight. It is also unbelievable that ... As always, Anne Hathaway and Kate Hudson are good actors, but I was disappointed by this film. The smarmy commentary at the end, that best friends will stick by you no matter what and are ultimately closer than spouses, feels tacked-on and rings false...after the way these girls turned on each other, who's to say it won't happen again? This was NOT the worst film I've ever seen, but the characters' behavior was too over-the-top for me to feel much sympathy for them.

Wow - with two such leading ladies, you would think this movie would be a five-star experience. What a shame the director didn't have the vision to let them run with it. I love both of the co-stars. The concept was good. The storyline was decent. So, the movie fail has to be on the head of the director. Sadly, it doesn't go where it could have, leaves things out that the viewer would have liked to see, and leaves other possibilities of the relationship and the problem (best friends, weddings scheduled for the same day) unexplored. We had high expectations for this one, but were very disappointed. This is average at best. Again, I point the finger at the director, who is the one who makes the final decisions on what the viewer sees - so many mistakes in this one! : /Wow - with two such leading ladies, you would think this movie would be a five-star experience.
