Wait a minute! I'm on Ebay to buy my wife a 30th anniversay gift. My wife is the the writer. Not me! She loves the First American books by Michael Gear and his wife Kathleen O'Neal Gear. Got some of their books for her birthday from her cousin in Oklahoma. Sure I read two of their books.. Really did like the story about the first city in the United States, The People of the Owl. Those First Americans weren't much different than us, today. In the the People of the Raven, the legend of white people showing up to live with the First Americans comes into focus. Most people believe that the First Americans came over the land bridge between Siberia in Russia and Alaska in the United States. Then why do white people keep showing up on the east and west coast of the United States to live in America? People of the Raven live on the Columbia River, between the states of Orgeon and Washington, when a red hair white woman, Evening Star, comes running into the villege to talk to Chief Rain Bear. It seems that she escaped from the North Wind tribe as their slave. The North Wind warriors were heading towards the Raven villege to kill all the people. What were the People of the Raven going to do?Read full review

I have read most of the books written by this couple. Some of HIS books, some of HER books, and then THEIR books. The WoW Factor appears when they write together. They have a style that generally makes the first chapter hard to get into, by the second chapter, you're hooked in a very believable story. Dusty Stewart is one of my Hero's !!! But he's not in this book. I honestly think that the past in North America, could have been a whole lot like these books. Spellbinding, adventurous, magical...
I loved this book as much as the others in the Earth Children's series. I would recommend it to anyone who likes a good story written from a historical perspective. The Gears leave no detail out and giv you everything you need to paint a perfect picture in your mind's eye as you read. Their characters truly become real.
Very Good addition to "The People of" series---shows where some of our traditions and beliefs might have derived from---story of early American possible history---Impelling and hard to put down without finishing because of the interesting way in which the writer keeps you locked into the story---Excellent Reading
