I recently rediscovered the joy of Sledge Hammer, but I don't remember season 2 from my youth. After watching season 1 we couldn't wait to get season 2 and we were dissapointed that it's just not as good as the 1st season. Sledge is a lot dumber, in season one he was great, but here he's just dumb at times and Dori is much more important to the team but not really in a positive way as she had been in the first season. But it's still funny and if you watch the show there's always little jokes that are well worth it.
This is an extreme parity of violence on TV. He is the most gun-happy violent person alive even though he is the hero. It is so easy to remember that this is just television because of the writes of the show go to the most extreme situations to inspire the laughter. In the first five minutes of the pilot episode he stops a sniper by blowing up a twenty story building. Accidentally saying "Kill the lights" means an excuse for him to bring out his gun. The perfect hero for us (pretend) macho guys. Beyond the humour is the beautiful Ann-Marie. She is smart, sophisticated, and helps keep Hammer in line. She has a really thin, really flexible body, long flowing hair blond hair, and gorgeous eyes. The perfect side kick for us (pretend) macho guys. The DVD themselves are high quality, and have NO commercials. Plus no laugh track so you can hear all of the jokes really clearly.Read full review
Season 1 introduces us to the characters and the (insane?) world of Sledge Hammer. This is a cop who uses unorthodox means (he has a huge gun) to get his job done, but to him it's the only logical way! This series is played seriously even though it's a comedy. When originally aired it included a laugh track because the networks were afraid that otherwise the audience wouldn't know it was a comedy! Now THAT'S insane! Fortunately the laugh track has been removed so you can now watcch the shows as they were intended: 1/2 hour Dirty Harry movies. The show was almost cancelled at the end of season 1 and the budget was severely cut for Season 2. Even so, creator Alan Spencer managed to put on another season of high-quality police mayhem with a heart. Some episodes were directed by Bill "The Hulk" Bixby. If you have Season 1 you have to have Season 2!Read full review
If you are a Hammer fan, you should have this one. I remember that I have watched this show back in 80's. I got hooked completely. I can't believe that this kind of show could be on the network air back then. I believe that self-righteous PC people still haven't seized in the entertainment industry. Anyway, 1st season is better than 2nd season. But as a fan, you should have this one, too. I don't think anyone buying vol,2 before owning vol, 1. Trust me, I know what I am doing.
A TV series that shoots holes in political correctness. Lots of laughs.

Season Two of Sledge Hammer continues to deliver witty dialogue in amusing episodes filled with sight and sound gags. Unfortunately, the show only lasted two seasons, but with the excellent quality if the DVD sets, the comedy remains timeless. A smile will always grace my face when I hear, "Trust me; I know what I'm doing."
I am a Sledge Hammer fan from back in the day and this show is filled with corny laughs and inuendoes. If you like the silly satirical humor...you MUST watch Sledge Hammer. It is suitable for all ages. There is a reason that after only two seasons, this show 20 years later still has a loyal fan base! THIS SHOW IS A MUST SEE!Trust me...I know what I'm doing!

Good series from the days before the PC police got in on the act and before every second word was a "F" word. Easy to watch with the kids who absolutely love Sledge.
I like the fact that it is old time clean comedy and edited to cut out the noise of the audience. It even had special unseen footage and interviews with the actors.
