Inspired by the classic monster movies of Universal Studios, Dracula -- Crazy Vampire has players guiding a cartoon-like, big-headed version of Dracula in a quest to gain the allegiance of 11 of his fellow vampires against the conniving Great Inquisitor Torquemada.
Sporting an overhead perspective, the game involves exploring in and around a castle, looking for vampires and using "bat power" to paralyze dogs, monsters, and other enemies. Once a creature has been stunned, the little vampire can drain its energy by sucking its blood. In addition to battling standard enemies, players will go up against the likes of Wolf Man, Swamp Thing, and the Mummy.
Players must also solve a number of puzzles by moving crates, flipping switches, opening doors, and lowering a drawbridge. During his journey, Dracula will interact with characters that relate information and grant special powers. For example, the witch in the first level provides Dracula with his vaunted bat power.
Like the character in the movies, Dracula is vulnerable to sunlight, but in this game, picking up vials of light provides resistance. Other power-ups include cape vials for protection, bat speed, and bat power. A password feature lets players resume their progress after each of the game's 11 levels.
