Rock Hudson and Doris Day made three romantic comedies together, but the first and greatest of them is Pillow Talk (1959). The cast is excellent and features Tony Randall and Thelma Ritter as Rock's and Doris's sidekicks. The humorous story revolves around Hudson and Day sharing a party line. If you're too young to know what a party line is, as I was when I first watched this movie, it's a situation in which your phone line and one or more other persons' are the same line. If they're on the phone, you can pick up your receiver and listen to their conversation, and they can do the same to you. Consequently, you can also not use your phone when another person is on the line. This awkward and annoying situation pits straight-laced Doris against ladies' man Hudson, who spends hours on the phone wooing and serenading his many girlfriends. Rock thinks Doris is the most bothersome woman in the world, until he meets her. He dons a false identity and personality to get close to her, and the two of them fall in love. But what will happen when she realizes he is actually the Casanova on the other end of her party line? The use of party lines dates this very funny comedy, but the film relies on that plot mechanism and couldn't get by without it. Pillow Talk is a classic, and I highly recommend it. If you like Pillow Talk and want to see the other two Rock-Doris romantic comedies, they are Lover Come Back (1961) and Send Me No Flowers (1964). You'll probably also like That Touch of Mink (1962), starring Day, Cary Grant, and John Astin.Read full review

I was telling my hubby about this movie and was thinking back in the good ol day when AMC used to play good classic Doris Day, Gene Kelly kind of movies. This used to be one of my favorites I would watch it whenever it came on. I love this movie. It is nice to not have to worry about seeing or hearing something you don't care to hear. It got me thinking and looking. So I got the great idea to ebay it and low and behold I am now the owner of this great movie!!
