Synopsis
It may be seem like the new kid on the block, but organic gardening has been practised for thousands of years by home gardeners. There is a way to grow flowers, woody plants, lawns, vegetables and fruit without the fertilizers and pesticides that can contaminate our environment and ourselves. Peters, author of many of Lone Pine's best-selling gardening guides, describes the benefits of organic gardening and how to make the transition into that world: creating living soils planning and design planting and managing an organic gardening (treatment of pests, diseases and weeds) managing an ornamental garden (lawns, woody plants, flowering plants, containers) wildlife or naturalized gardens edible gardens urban gardens how to harvest extend the seasons, propagate, as well as watering techniques. Colour photos and illustrations throughout., Filled with insightful stories about golf, Dr. Bob Rotella's delightful book will improve the game of even the most casual weekend player. Dr. Bob Rotella is one of the hottest performance consultants in America today. Among his many professional clients are Nick Price (last year's Player of the Year), Tom Kite, Davis Love III, Pat Bradley, Brad Faxon, John Daly, and many others. Rotella, or "Doc," as most players refer to him, goes beyond just the usual mental aspects of the game and the reliance on specific techniques. What Rotella does here in this extraordinary book, and with his clients, is to create an attitude and a mindset about all aspects of a golfer's game, from mental preparation to competition. The most wonderful aspect of it all is that it is done in a conversational fashion, in a dynamic blend of anecdote and lesson. And, as some of the world's greatest golfers will attest, the results are spectacular. Golfers will improve their golf game and have more fun playing. Some of Rotella's maxims include: -On the first tee, a golfer must expect only two things of himself: to have fun, and to focus his mind properly on every shot. -Golfers must learn to love 'the challenge when they hit a ball into the rough, trees, or sand. The alternatives--anger, fear, whining, and cheating--do no good. -Confidence is crucial to good golf. Confidence is simply the aggregate of the thoughts you have about yourself. -It is more important to be decisive than to be correct when preparing to play any golf shot or putt. Filled with delightful and insightful stories about golf and the golfers Rotella works with, Golf Is Not a Game of Perfect will improve the game of even the most casual weekend player.

Excellent book on the mental side of golf to help your game

I received this same book about 15 yrs ago. After using its methods my handicap dropped from a 12 to about an 8. If you already have some decent golf skills and you follow the information in the book, there is no reason why you cannot lower your scores. The chapter on the "training" and "trusting" mentality of practice helped me the most. This is the only golf book I have for the mental side, do not need another one. I buy this book for others.

  • Golf Is Not a Game of Perfect

The book is a collection of short chapters designed to illustrate how we all have control over not only our golf game but our lives as well. The author does an excellent job of illustrating how to take and maintain control over those things in our golf game that we all claim are out of our control. In the process, he effectively illustrates how those same principles and attitudes can be easily translated to our everyday lives. An easy, informative and entertaining read. It will make you examine not only your approach to your golf game, regardless of your handicap, but to your life as well. Not the usual "self help" tome.

  • More the psychological side of golf.

I bought this book because my cousin who was going into golf pro management said it changed his way of looking at golf and helped him out tremendously. I also have another friend that is a pro a local course and says he has several copies lying around the places he is the most (work, home and the bathroom). I mean even professionals go through slumps, why not try and better yourself through some mental knowledge versus trying the quick fix in the recent golf magazine. After reading it, I really started to focus on certain parts of my swing. For me, it helped me think about 2 things: hip rotation (for getting back to square) and follow through. When I am trying to work the ball, I just manipulate the rotation of my hips and the follow through. This book truly helped me lower my 9 hole ...

  • A must-have for every golfer's library

I read this book from the library a year ago and wanted to get my own copy of it. Since then I have been looking for it in second hand stores (to find a good deal), but it was hard to find there because I think most people who buy this book don't want to give it up! I know this will definitely be staying on my bookshelf and I will read it again multiple times. Any golfer, and especially any serious golfer, would be smart to have this book in their library. Dr. Bob Rotella gives great advice about how to think about playing the game, which is applicable no matter what your golf skill level is. I'm glad I found a copy here on eBay and I would recommend this as a great gift to a golfer you know or as a gift for yourself (like I did!) if you are the golfer.

  • Great Insight into the Mental Aspects of Golf

This book is an excellent tool when it comes to how the mind is an important tool in golf and in life in general. Highly recommended for anyone instered in golf.
