    Graham Farish N Gauge Class 31 No. 31173

    A fast and smooth runner on a layout that has been resurrected and being rebuilt. Several of the original Farish locos are quite jerky, due to the age of the trackwork. However, the 31 runs smoothly and quite fast. The loco runs with lights lighting up both ends while in motion. I am relatively new back into modelling 'N' gauge. The information about this loco said it ran slowly - it did. Seeking advice from a well-known model shop, the retailer removed the chip and the model worked much better - it ran faster and as smooth as before. It seemed the chip that was applied affected its running speed. A fairly quiet runner as well and a nice addition to the layout.
