      Asus Cd / DVD drive

      The Asus drive is an excellent replacement for a older or faulty drive. The drive is simple to instal but will need a S A T A connection cable and a power connection. The drive is fairly quiet in use and is s good replacement for the price.

      Asus Green DVD - Writer DRW-24D5MT

      I have bought a number of DVD drives over the years, but the extra quality brought by the Asus brand was apparent the moment I looked at the box. No plain brown cardboard here, with plenty of informative details about the product, it's green credentials and it's readiness for windows 10. Inside the player was well protected with fitted soft foam end caps whilst the unit itself was sealed in an Asus branded bag. Fitting and wiring was standard for its type. First job it needed to do was install an operating system from disc, and it performed it flawlessly with nothing more than a steady hum. Exceptional value for money for such an established brand.

      Works out of the Box

      Used this to replace a much older drive in a computer running Linux Mint. Fitted the Asus, connected it up, switched the computer on.... and it works brilliantly. Great value, easy fitted and works a treat.

      As it says on the box. (But it isn't green)

      With Windows 7, I fitted to my 10 year old 64bit HP tower PC, connected (new extra) leads and powered up. It works. Didn't need to install, Win7 knew what to do and did it for me. Works well above my original writer which still plays Region 1. With this ASUS region 4 (play) so all my CD's and DVD's can all be heard and viewed. I can write new CD's and DVD's at speed with the ASUS. I'm happy with my investment of £12.00 or thereabouts.
