Extremely fast focus
Photos are very sharp and clear. It focuses extremely fast and is silent during focus. The manual focus ring works great. The VR feature works very well. There are no switches on this lens. The VR on/off is performed in-camera. This is not a problem for me. The lens is very light weight for its size. The focus ring and mechanism is solid, smooth and when the camera is pointed down, the lens does not creep forward, it retains its set focused length. Great value for the money. The design and operation is excellent. Exceeds Expectations
I already had the AF-S 70-300mm G VR ED for my full frame Nikon. I wanted to get the AF-P DX model to lighten the load with my AP-C Nikon. I hoped for an equivalent product, but the AF-P version focuses almost scary fast and silent and the images are very sharp on my D7500. Nikkor Rocks!
Nikkor/Nikon has very clear glass in general and clean photography is their norm. This lens has the built in vibration control, so it's much easier to hand hold while photographing in full zoom. It also has very little distortion.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Excellent, very sharp and exceeds my expectations
I bought this to use with a Nikon 1 V3 and the FT-1 adapter. This lens is a great value and exceeded my expectations for sharpness. I also have the CX 70-300mm which is slightly sharper. However, with modern image processing software, the AF-P DX 70-300mm is excellent. The AF-P DX appears to have better optical image stabilization than the CX version. I bought this lens to future proof my fun little Nikon 1 cameras (which, together with their lenses, were discontinued by Nikon). The cameras and the CX lenses are great but many CX lenses tend to eventually die, apparently due to use of a tiny nylon gear inside that eventually wears out. While my CX lens version continues to work, I'll use this one on a 2nd body. And when the CX lens dies (as it may do), I'll just keep shooting with this AF-P lens.
