  • Moving and exciting storyline, fewer puzzles

I love the game so much! I have been playing this game for around 8,5 hours now, and it's lovely. It's somewhat like the older Professor Layton games I've played, though more structured because of the storyline, which has its pros and cons. You're mostly guided in what you have to do, but sometimes the dialogues are really long and with many unnecessary movements of the characters, which makes it more of a slow paced game. I think the puzzles are somewhat easy, but some are very difficult to solve. Very important! The music is SO GOOD! I enjoy playing the game with sound on, which I usually don't because the music annoys me or is distracting with most games. The Attorney scenes are dynamic and fun to play. This is my first time playing an Ace Attorney game so I think it was not too difficult for a new player. However, after you went through the first scene, the second feels like an eternity because it takes so long. Therefore, I think you should play this game if you like good storylines, and enjoy to solve some puzzles here and there with some court scenes. But it has definitely fewer puzzles than other Professor Layton games, so don't expect to find a (hidden) puzzle every place you go.

Purchased as a present for grandson. Not been given yet. If it is like all the other Prof. Layton He has it will be excellent and give endless hours of fun.

  • Fun, but not as good as it could have been.

As a fan of the Layton games, I knew that they were based on the Phoenix Wright ones. I didn't really know what to expect. For the most part the game is fun, compelling and makes you think. The cutscenes are very good and the voice acting is very well done. The story, as is usual in a Layton game, is hilariously illogical but I am amused by that, personally, rather than irritated. So why did I only give four out of five stars? Well, frankly for the Wright scenes. As soon as Layton is out of the picture, it becomes a tired and repetitive table bashing session. You have to watch each witness be questioned, then Wright bashes the table, then the other guy takes out his sword. Then another question is asked. Wright bashes the table, then the other guy takes out his sword... And so it goes on. Layton is awesome, as ever. Smart, gentlemanly, unflappable and still great in a sword fight. He even takes out several guys using just a stick! Luke is fun too, showing just how much he cares for the Professor, when he goes missing. I think it's a genuine shame that Luke and Layton's reunion wasn't a cutscene. It's a great credit to Level-5 that they have created characters that are so compelling that you feel for them. Overall I like the game and will play it again. Just stop banging the darn table!
