Synopsis
"Maxwell mixes humor with meticulous characterization to create memorable stories." -Publishers Weekly With Lyon's Bride, New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Cathy Maxwell kicks off a wonderful historical romance series, The Chattan Curse-concerning a generational bane that ominously portends, "When a Chattan male falls in love, strike his heart with fire from above." In this sensational marriage of convenience tale with a delightful twist, the so-called "Lord Lyon" is the latest family member cursed to eschew love or die. So he seeks a bride he does not love, only to be smitten by an English duke's headstrong daughter, who compels him to dangerously tempt fate. Lyon's Bride is the kind of lush and sensuous love story that will appeal not only to RITA Award nominee Cathy Maxwell's legion of fans, but to the many devoted readers of Christina Dodd and Victoria Alexander as well., When you look back at its history, you can see a progression in Provincetown, things getting wilder and wilder, the outlaw element becoming the norm.... Provincetown, Cape Cod: This small Massachusetts enclave has long been home to pirates, commune-dwellers, artists, and other noble countrymen who value liberty over law -- from Norman Mailer and Tennessee Williams to John Waters, Robert Motherwell, and former congressman Gerry Studds. With one of the largest homosexual populations per capita of any town or city in the United States, and some of the highest beachfront real estate prices in the Northeast, Provincetown is a thriving tourist spot that attracts more than one million visitors each year. Here, acclaimed writer and longtime Ptown resident Peter Manso brings together all the celebrities and townsfolk, history and happenstance, and politics and gossip to offer an unparalleled account of this unconventional seaside society -- a place, in the words of Henry David Thoreau, where "one may stand...and put all of America behind him."

- d***d (47)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseThis book is fantastic! The quality is exactly as described, it’s in great condition, the appearance is clean and basically brand-new, and it came at an excellent price. This is a first-rate, five-star seller that deserves everyone's business. They packaged the book with extreme care, shipped it quickly, and communicated effectively throughout the process. This was an excellent buying experience and I wouldn't hesitate to buy from this seller again.
- 0***1 (1596)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseThis book arrived within the time period given and was in the 'very good' condition described. Unfortunately, only being packaged in a plastic bag to traverse the Atlantic meant that all four corners got a battering (I would be happy to pay bit more in future for a bit of cardboard support in packaging) but all in all, the price was good and overall service for books that are difficult to get over here, I am very happy with this purchase and would recommend this seller. Will buy again from them.
