Fox McCloud is back in action on GameCube, taking the Star Fox team on an epic quest to protect the galaxy from a new and powerful threat. In addition to the character-based combat introduced in 2002's Star Fox Adventures, Star Fox 2 follows the groundwork established by the original Super NES and later Nintendo 64 game. Players will pilot the Arwing in space and above cities on a planet's surface as well as drive the Landmaster Tank. Fox can get out of the vehicle at any time to continue battles on foot, using a variety of weapons to defend cities under siege from the air and on the ground. Sniper rifles, bazookas, laser pistols, and more are available, as is the specialized help of crew Slippy Hare, Peppy Hare, and Falco Lombardi.<br><br>Star Fox 2 also includes a number of new characters that agree to fight alongside the Star Fox team, and players can even enlist their friends in a series of cooperative missions. Both players can go their separate ways using a traditional split-screen format, or they can fight together with one player acting as a wingman to help shoot down foes. The latter option has one player's character literally riding atop a wing or side panel while the other player focuses on piloting or driving. Those not in a cooperative state of mind can engage up to three other like-minded individuals in an assortment of battle modes taking place in the air or on the ground. Star Fox 2 marks the first GameCube game developed by Namco on behalf of Nintendo.

    Star fox assault

    Personally, I think this game is much better than its reputation would have you believe. Yes, you are on foot for a lot of it. Most levels consist of a mix of flying, driving a tank, and battling on foot. It’s not Star Fox 64, and was therefore dismissed. I’ve always found it to be a fantastic star fox game nonetheless. I think it’s healthy for games to try new things while maintaining the spirit of their predecessors.

    Disappointed...

    I purchased this game in hopes it worked..but it doesn’t. My console won’t even read the game, considering the description says it was “tested” and works completely. Cleaned the disc 3 times and it didn’t do anything, he said “minor” scratches to the disc but there’s a big section of scratches..definitely dissatisfied. Don’t say that it works when it clearly doesn’t..so now i have a game that doesn’t work and i was so excited to play it too. Thanks bud.

    One of the better Gamecube titles.

    Starfox Assault is one of my favorite games and the condition of this example is very good. It has humor, cheesy appeal, a high quality soundtrack, and a memorable story. I highly recommend this game for fans of the Starfox series. It's sad that GameCube titles are fairly expensive, but the nostalgia is worth it.

    Awesome game

    This game I feel is underrated because it doesn't get too much recognition but believe me when I say there is plenty of things to like about this film. The graphics, the Gameplay, the selection of weapons, the level designs, the variety of gameplay such as run and gun, driving a tank, or piloting an Arwing, and the music are all just some of the wonderful qualities this game has to over. If you ever come across it pick it up and play it. The Star Fox franchise needs more love.
