More than expected. Have always owned Mag lights and other various so called bright lights such as CREE but this SUREFIRE is extremely bright with a well focused center beam for pin pointing and a outer ring for great field of vision for secondary threats @ 30 yards the outer ring seems to a least 25' across with more than enough light. as soon as I can I will purchase more looking at the 6xp PRO for a hand held back up.

Does not function well in cold also gets too cold to hold onto, also very bright and not long lasting. in my opinion, not as well made as other surefire flashlights I have came across but ultimately, it's not bad I am just very picky when it comes to surefire products. friends love it, i just think for the price the quality could be better

This is my second Surefire Defender purchase: one for each of my daughters when they reached driving age. I chose the Surefire Defender because of the high output of the light and the crenelated bezel surrounding the lamp lens. I am very pleased with the product. The light output of the LED lamp is amazing. I believe a blast of this light to the eyes would discourage a would-be attacker. If the dazzling light didn't do the trick, the pain from being struck with the sharpish edges around the face of the lens would drive off all but a very determined bad guy. (Please note that my purchase was the 6PX Defender model and not the Tactical model. The striking surface of the Defender model is MUCH more aggressive.). Surefire changed the style of the body between my first and second Defender purchase. The first had a knurled grip which feels better suited than the smooth body of the current 6PX Defender for use as a striking tool. I think Surefire should go back to the body design of the old 6P model. The tail-cap switch of this light feels like high quality mechanism. There is only one output for this light ( as opposed to the low, strobe, high of other models). I feel the high-only output mode is appropriate for what I consider a self-defense device. I give this flashlight a top rating despite the high cost because I found no equivalent product that has the capability and quality of this light. If you are looking for a general-purpose light, there are cheaper more versatile lights on the market.Read full review
Pros: bright light, compact size and the the light is evenly dutributed in the beam Cons: only con I have is that it's not rechargeable, but not a deal breaker. It's actually nice to not have to help placing it on the charger

Feels good in the hand, like quality. Light quality and hot spot is one of best I’ve seen. Shows no mercy to those little high output 123a’s. Those batteries are just to expensive to keep feeding light (batteries are made by surefire..figures) Not practical for daily carry. I had finicky tail switch to. It just turned on whatever setting it felt like. And when I bumped light a little bit it changed setting as well. For $180 that not supposed to be happening. For that price you can really shop around.
