It is surprising in the age of cell phones that you would need a walkie talkie, but we thought we did so we purchased this awesome pair. Works well in parks, around the house on the weekend when doing chores, and we will use it on a cruise ship too.

The radios are handy however they will not hold a charge for more than a couple of hours. This alone makes them completely useless to us. We have a small horse farm and just wanted them to keep from using the cell phones. When I say they won't hold a charge I'm talking just on standby . If you actually use them it's almost instat death. You can put regular batteries in the instead of the rechargeables but that totally defeats the purpose of buying ones you can charge.

I needed to replace one of my other brand radios this year after deer camp, because the very popular competitors brand I happily owned and used for several years, got rained on and fried the circuits. (It didn't take much rain either). Supposedly that one was "water resistant". So I saw these Cobra's on eBay, and they claim to be water proof, they were roughly the same price as one that got fried, so I figured Id give them a try. When I received them I tested them out and they get the same distance as the other brand, with identical terrain, they sounded as clear as the other ones. AND I floated them in the tub for 10 minutes and they SURVIVED. These will work for me. By the way, practically speaking, don't believe any GMRS handheld's can get 35-37 miles range, under any conditions, without a repeater.Read full review

I live out in the desert and bought these to use in that environment, nothing to block signal environment. These do not work after 1 mile in the desert with nothing around. I am disappointed since it says it has a 16 mile range so my assumption that in a flat sanded area that it should at least work 5miles out. Nope. In the city it stops working the next house down when we are both outside. I wish I could return these and use the money on a real set of walkies. They are light and very easy to use once you print instructions off the web. They do work with other walkie sets nicely in the extremely tight area that they do actually work in. I bought this fooled by positive reviews. Perhaps their set actually works, mine did not and would gladly have bought these for kids at a playground or something as toys, not for adults intending to stay in contact out of yelling distance.Read full review

Been using Cobra FRP radios for many years. They are the longest lasting of any brand I have used and really am hard on radios and use them every day in all kinds of extreme conditions.
