This is my 3rd set of these radios. I use up to 4 at a time. Good operation and reasonable battery life. The REW (rewind) button lets you hear a missed transmission with out asking "Repeat!". Good quality inexpensive communications.

I have owned many cobra CB sets and figured this will ne a great item in an emergencyif they work as well as their cb radios. Just finished range testing the unit living in Florida there are no hills and the street i tested the units on is 7 miles long straight and with no high buildings. With the squelch on and with high power we could only talk .5 miles Once we turned the squelch off we were able to talk 3 miles and after that the signal faded in and out, Just a note batteries fully charged Tried several channels on high power same results Very dissappointed in this particular product and shoul have just bought another cb set and a mag base with a K40 antenna Almost tempted to contact my lawyer about false advertising should have said range 3.5 miles

It's great walkie talkie, with cool features, but in the city or even in suburb you would be lucky to get 2 miles out of it on high power mode. Also I don't like the soft TALK button on the side, because the actual button is small one located in the middle of the big rubber button. If you don't press in the middle of the rubber button, you will not be pressing on the actual physical button under the rubber. You have to feel with your finger where is the bump of the small physical button is before you press it (without looking). Also menu is hard to understand without user manual, because it's extremely not descriptive. You either have to learn and remember it, or use user manual if you want to change things. Over all I like it for what I use it for (keep contact with kids while they are outside so I don't have to yell to call them home or ask something).Read full review
I bought this radio as a key piece of equipment for the communications element of my family emergency plan. When I first received it, I was surprised about how small it was (it's really hard to tell the physical size with just a photo!), even though I did review the specs. I was a little skeptical about the performance from such a small radio. Well, to make a long story short, they work perfectly, and fit VERY well into my survival plan. While the range may be a little less than advertised, the performance of the radio overall is better than I expected. I would recommend this product to my friends.
Smaller than I thought when I received them. Nice size tho. Fits in pretty much any pocket. Super clear audio and much more functional than previous frs/gmrs radios ive owned. I last had a set of older Uniden radios which were also marketed as a radio shack brand which had a power saver circuit that put a long delay on tx'ing rx'ing a transmission from them. ....very annoying. These have a power saving mode that doesn't delay at all. Many great functional features like shutting off the 'roger' beep, boosted output on gmrs channels, and ctcss and dcs privacy codes. Only ONE con: audio volume isn't very loud. Not bad though. For noisy environments an earpiece may suffice.
