After years of celebrating rock & roll culture and making gamers feel like guitar gods, Activision turns its attention to hip-hop pioneers like Kool Herc and Grand Wizard Theodore by offering players more than 80 original mixes to blend, juggle, and scratch in DJ Hero. Featuring a variation of the "note highway" mechanic popularized by Guitar Hero and Rock Band, and incorporating a turntable-and-mixer peripheral controller, DJ Hero finds gamers manipulating a crossfader and effects knob with one hand, while using the other hand to press three gameplay buttons located atop a fully rotatable faux record. Instead of increasing difficulty by making players account for more buttons, DJ Hero begins to incorporate more scratching and crossfader movement in an attempt to foster a more authentic feel.<br><br>Developer FreeStyleGames worked closely with world-renowned artists DJ Shadow, DJ Z-Trip, DJ AM, and Cut Chemist to create a realistic experience, and all four DJs contributed original mixes and mash-ups. DJ Hero also features DJ Jazzy Jeff and Grandmaster Flash as playable characters, but the game does not mine its track list solely from the world of hip-hop, featuring portions of more than 100 individual songs from artists such as Marvin Gaye, Beck, Nirvana, Daft Punk, and Tears for Fears. The game takes players to a variety of locations designed to mimic real-life party hotspots, and gamers looking for multiplayer action can hook up multiple controllers for competitive "DJ vs. DJ" mode, or the co-operative "DJ + DJ" and "DJ + Guitar" modes.<br><br>The "Renegade Edition" comes packaged with a "Renegade Turntable Controller," a hard carrying case that converts into a DJ stand, and a two CDs featuring music from Eminem and Jay-Z.

    not as par to rock band/guitar hero

    Graphics: 3/5 stars Gameplay: 5/5 stars Music: 5/5 stars Overall: 4/5 stars I am sure you have seen this in stores or on TV or have possibly read about it. This is released by ACTIVISION in 2009 in hopes to be a hit like guitar hero or rock band. It uses a turntable device to imitate a real DJ. I recommend this for anyone that is very coordinated and has video gaming experience. Anyone that has a hard time or beginner is going to have a difficult time fully appreciating this game. The music however is very entertaining. You can also unlock music and have add ons. The beats are very good. You will get tired of this game after 4-5 hours. Overall it is 4/5 stars.     Great Game

    I am a DJ and I love to play video games! That said, when i heard about DJ Hero and the Renegade Edition, I knew I had to get it, the Renegade Edition that is. I opened the packaging and saw only the carrying case. I opened the case and was amazed by the sheer beauty of the game controller. It was easy to hook up the Wii remote to the controller. You can set the controller up for right- or left-hand play. It is similer to the Guitar Hero games, but much more complicated. Not a bad complicated, it is just harder and more busy than it's guitar sibling. Lots of stuff to do, right out of the box. This will be a hard game to master, but it is very fun. The music mash-ups are awesome! I recommend this game for those who like to be in control.....of music.

    ENJOYABLE!!

    This game is really cool. Activision has done it again. I found myself addicted to this game after I played it for the first time and went all out and got the renegade version! This is the same as the standard version except for the stand and CD extra. No complaints other than I wish there was more music available for download; but that will come in the future I am certain! Has many old school hip-hop jamz and adds ability to play along with any guitar hero controller--very cool. A++ concept and game

    DJ Hero (Renegade Edition) (Wii, 2009)

    I like that it starts at a simple level my 6 year old can play, but moves to an expert level I can enjoy and I have been a local DJ for 10 years. It is different from my pro set up as there is only one turntable but the concept of separate tracks are not that hard to understand. I do wish there were more songs included, but I guess that is where DJ Hero 2 comes in.

    RENEGADE ED. DJ HERO FOR THE WII

    ITEM EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS. I PURCHASED THE ITEM LAST WEEK PRIOR TO CHRISTMAS. THE SET COMES IN ITS OWN CARRYING CASE AND COVERTS TO A DJ STAND... AND THE DJ STAND ADJUSTS UP OR DOWN BASED ON THE HEIGHT OF THE PERSON PLAYING. HAD HOURS AND HOURS OF FUN SO FAR!
