  • The one book every writer should own

Aside from "Writers Market," this is the ONE book all aspiring writers need to own. Skip the first few chapters for now, which merely tell you the mechanics of writing submissions -- white paper, 1" margins all around, how to get the manuscript into the right hands, and all that. Save those for later (they SHOULD have been placed in the back of the book, in my humble opinion). Where the book really shines is showing you example of how to say something -- how inexperienced writers normally say things -- and then the book shows you better examples of the way to get your story and ideas across to the reader, ways that will make an editor sit up and notice GOOD writing.
