Cheap, reasonably good M42 to Sony E adapter
There are two classes of adapters for legacy lenses on mirrorless cameras. One class is particularly well made, and includes Metabones adapters and just a handful of other brands. They have both front and rear mounts machined as separate pieces in brass or steel, and are expensive. Then there are the cheaper no-brand adapters, with rear mount machined as an integral part of the aluminium-alloy adapter body. In these, the front mount is typically a separate piece, but often also machined out of aluminium alloy. Until last year, I used to mail-order Metabones adapters from within the EU, and cheap no-brand adapters directly from China. New import tariffs for non-EU items into Sweden mean that now, if I only need one or two adapters of the cheap type, it is better for me to order them at a ... They are the very same items advertised at lower prices from China, only the economics have changed. This is the case of these M42 to Sony E adapters. They do what they are supposed to do, and the only real concern is that the rear integral bayonet is not as precise and as durable as in better-quality adapters. On the other hand, I can still buy three of four of these for the cost of one Metabones adapter, so durability is not really a valid concern. For daily use when you swap lenses dozens of times during a day's work, by all means do stay on the safe side and get a better adapter. For only occasional use, however, you are just as well served by a cheaper adapter like this one.

This super thin adaptor is great for adapting short back-focus lenses.
The adaptor is well made from anodised aluminium alloy and is a good fit on Sony E-mount camera bodies. Despite the name, the adaptor does have a flange as this is required to seat the mount and also to provide the socket for the mount locking pin. The flange is however very thin, I measured it as 0.88mm, any less and the adaptor would be too flimsy and unable to take the locking pin. This thin adaptor will give you the best chance at achieving infinity focus with short back-focus lenses The M42 threads are well cut and there is no problem fitting M42 accessories such as focusing helicoids. I've used dozens of these adaptors and had no problems with them at all.The adaptor is well made from anodised aluminium alloy and is a good fit on Sony E-mount camera bodies. New life for old lenses..
clean design with no rough edges etc....works well and fits the camera and lens with no problems........the tiny allen key provided I figured out is to allow the lens to rotate with respect to the body for convenience.. I imagine that is standard for adapter like this.......it has allowed me to use some old lenses with a new camera body and I have already captured some impressive shots....
