The battle of Villers-Bocage came on 13th June 1944, just one week after D-Day. The thrust through Normandy of the British 7th Armoured Division (the famous Desert Rats ) was hoped to be a dashing and audacious move to outmanoeuvre the German panzer forces defending Caen. Instead, what they met (for the first time on the Western Front) was a force of mighty Tiger tanks. This is a definitive study of this famous tank battle between the Sherman Fireflies of the 7th Armoured Division and the Tigers of the SS-Pz.
