Mill Creek cares about customer service!
The DVD company, Mill Creek, proves that they care about customer service by rereleasing the Filmation Library after BTC/BCI regrettably closed its doors and releasing the DIC library when Shout Factory! will not release the series' in their entirety. While many of these releases are "bare bones" (few or no special features), the episodes are being released where fans can AFFORD these releases. In this case of C.O.P.S. Volume 1, we get 33 episodes (HALF the series!) in one release of 3 discs (Shout Factory! only released 2/3 of the series in three years time). So, bare bones releases or not, Mill Creek cares about releasing complete series' at reasonable prices. AS to "C.O.P.S." Volume 1: Episodes: Episodes are in broadcast order, which are a little out of production order. For instance, ... For instance, this makes the ORIGIN episodes 9 and 10 in broadcast order and, consequently, on the discs. Other than that, there are thirty three episodes here between three discs. The only difference I can see (this was seen in Shout Factory's releases, too) was that the origin episodes used abbreviated versions of the episodes that didn't introduce every member of C.O.P.S individually. Video quality: there are eleven episodes per disc and the video quality is expected to be downplayed a bit. Lo and behold, some episodes are in widescreen format (if "Rock Krusher," for example, looked ridiculous in full screen, I nearly laughed out loud seeing the bumbling muscle-bound crook flattened down to widescreen format). Sound: I'm guessing it's in stereo but again, maybe that's to be expected from cramming so much material onto each disc. Also, the voice tracks on some episodes seem to be spontneously worn out of shape (probably poor production material and most obvious when Bulletproof's narration in front of/behind each episode is spontaneously slowed down/sped up). Special features: In this case, an episode of the animated "Hey Vern It's Ernest!" (???) Packaging: the outer packaging is good. The packaging of the individual discs is the WORST I have yet to see! Individual, disc sized CD sleeves that slide in and out of the casing (sorry; I have never dealt with this before and I was not impressed this time). Again, Mill Creek is providing a great, affordable opportunity to collect the "He-man" and "She-ra" canons if fans didn't buy them from BTC/BCI. And an even better opportunity to actually complete the "C.O.P.S." series on DVD (and, hopefully, complete the "Inspector Gadget" series and provide a welcome opportunity for "M.A.S.K." and "Pole Position" to be released in North America). I use to watch this show when I was Lil n couldn't believe I found this n I haven't seen this,show since I was a Lil boy n it brings so many memories back seening this show all over again good show I would recommend this to all old school cartoon fans

"Fighting Crime in a Future Time"
"IT'S CRIME FIGHTING TIME!!" This DVD set was pretty much the way I remembered it: Awesome!! The episodes are actually good with minimal cheesiness and great story lines. The action is sub-par considering the characters all have weapons and are Cops n Crooks but then again, it is an 80's cartoon. Definiately something they should bring back. Hope these Cookie Jar people put out volume 2! If you are a fan in any sort of way, won't be disappointed."IT'S CRIME FIGHTING TIME!!" This DVD set was pretty much the way I remembered it: Awesome!!
