For years this was successfully my main wildlife and landscape camera hence the number of spare batteries and usb charger. Unfortunately the original mains charger has ‘gone walkabout’ so I have included the dual usb charger which I have been using - much more useful. Only one very minor defect. The electronic viewfinder has a minute mark at the top right corner due I am told to bright sunlight entering the eyepiece. This in no way affects the image quality and is not obtrusive in use. Alas years have overtaken me, together with a muscular complaint picked up during covid and my wildlife photography is largely over hence the sale. Will be sorry to see this camera go and hope the buyer has as much pleasure from it as I have had.”

A heavyweight in several respects
It's difficult to rate this camera. It's a big, heavy, complex camera, and in its preferred EXR mode it produces jpegs of 6MP resolution (not a lot by today's standards). On the other hand, the 26X zoom lens is one of the best on any bridge camera, the viewfinder and tilting screen are superb, the controls are well thought out, and the build quality is top class. And by the way, the image quality is superb as long as you're not making poster sized prints. Not an easy camera to use, but it repays serious effort with serious results. It's a 10-year-old camera now, and prices are still - to me - surprisingly high.It's difficult to rate this camera. Quality Fujifilm bridge camera.
It is extremely well built with a number of critical seals in place. The Fuji menu system can be daunting at first but is easily mastered. The image quality is good and this camera makes an ideal all in one travel unit. The lens does suffer from zoom creep and I would recommend purchasing a lensband to counter this problem. The lens hood is excellent, it is reassuringly made of metal and clips confidently into place. The EVF is suprisingly good and is good enough for critical composition. The hinged rear LCD is clear and sharp enough for most applications. This design of camera works if you know what your photography requirements are and you know to exploit those challenges. Simply excellent value for your money
If you want a very high end bridge camera that gives pretty much the same experience as a DSLR and functions in a very similar fashion the Fuji X-S1 is worth a look. I am very happy with the build quality, it feels nice in your hands with a bit of weight but not too heavy. the images that come out of the camera are great, its reasonable in low light and the onboard flash seems to be pretty decent. Add a 24-600mm+ zoom, f2.8 at 24mm and it just gets better. All in its a very versatile camera, easy to use but also able to offer all of the manual functionality you may want. The Macro modes are both great, and did I mention the fuji optics.......... they do make nice glass. Its a near perfect camera for throwing in a bag and taking on holiday, which is exactly what I got mine for. Add a couple ... Stunning 26x zoom, great versatility and full manual options - what a joy!
My last bridge camera was the lovely Olympus E-20 and I've favoured DSLRs since then but needed to carry 2-3 lenese. After reading reviews of the Fuji X-series I decided to look out for the X-S1 as it had a high spec and a 24-624mm (35mm equivalent) zoom with minimal distortion. Other than my Fuji GX680III, my only other Fuji encounter was with the little S5700 which surprised me with its good picture quality in the mid-zoom range. The X-S1 is in another league - it can produce exceptional images and top quality HD video too. By current standards, this is quite a big camera though for me it's a well-balanced lightweight compared with my Contax SLRs. It's textured rubberised surround and well-sculpted grip make it easy to hold and the overall build quality is very high - my only gripe in ... I then bought via Ebay's onlinefred62 an Acmaxx screen protector and was ready for action. The metal dials inspire confidence and the camera offers a lot of very useful options through its comprehensive menu with ample opportunities for user customization. The ideal mode is EXR though it takes a while for it to operate optimally as the camera has to 'learn' the way you like to shoot and the kinds of photos you wish to take. The EVF is revelation - it is quite superb; I thought my Olympus VF-2 was excellent (it is) but the Fuji's is truly exceptional; the screen I would describe as 'workmanlike'. With noise well controlled, this camera can be used under very poor lighting conditions with ease though I have yet to push it beyond ISO4000. Another reason for choosing the X-S1 was the ability to operate fully manually and this too is a breeze though fine focus takes a while to achieve. The zoom is oustanding and produces exceptional images - the anti-shake combined with the extreme zoom settings allows this to be used without a tripod though in dim light I'd opt for one. Gripes - very few other than the one I mentioned earlier: the use of 2.5mm microphone jack is a tad annoying; the use of 'silent mode' cutting off the flash needs to be addressed. Other than that, it's a joy. I upgraded the firmware to 1.1 - a simple procedure - and this camera has not suffered from the 'orb' issue with extreme highlights - but if your model has this problem, Fuji will correct it for free. For anyone wanting the flexibility of a 24mm wide-angle to a 624mm super telephoto in one camera, there's nothing better on the market. The Fuji HS30 makes a good, cheaper option but the build-quality of the X-S1 is the clincher for me. Oh yes, another plus was that my old Corel PaintShop Pro X3 recognised the RAW files straight away! Grab an X-S1 while you can...

These cameras are very high quality, don’t let the 12mp put you off, because the sensor is double the size of most of the bridge cameras that are out today, I’ve owned many of the new bridge cameras and this, even though it’s been out for years trumps them all, fantastic camera,
