Pairing upper-crust detective Inspector Lynley (Nathaniel Parker, FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD) with his working-class partner Barbara Havers (Sharon Small, ABOUT A BOY), the series chronicles the Scotland Yard duo's efforts to crack difficult cases while coming to terms with each other's class differences. This collection features all four episodes of the series' first season: in "Well-Schooled in Murder," Lynley and Havers investigate the disappearance of a student at a posh boarding school; in "Payment in Blood," the murder of a playwright during the performance of his play; in "For the Sake of Elena," the death of a Cambridge professor's daughter; and in "Missing Joseph," the poisoning of a country clergyman.

    Very good mystery

    I liked the friction between the Scotland Yard Inspector and his Sargent while getting to know each others working methods in this first episode. The plot was a good one about a supposedly good man that got his head chopped off with a axe. Interesting watch the police finding clues and the surprises they find along the way. Thought the romance part of it was abit much and kind of boring.

    I love this series. The characters are well developed and the plots are very interesting. Nathaniel Parker is excellent as is Sharon Small. I must admit that I sometimes have a difficult time understanding Sharon Small..must be the Scottish accent.
