  • What a disappointment

I bought this book thinking it would show me how to make wooden geared clocks. After all, it features one on the front cover. However, the bulk of its content covers wooden cased clocks. Essentially, it is mostly about cutting out fancy boxes with a scroll saw and then installing rather cheap looking movements. Yes, the clock featured on the cover is one of the projects but the plans are almost impossible to accurately photocopy as the larger components span more than one page. If you want to make wooden geared clocks (and the one featured on the front cover) then a better buy is “Making Wooden Gear Clocks” also by Scrollsaw Woodworking & Crafts. This book features full-size pull-out plans and it’s cheaper!

  • No good for clockmakers

Brought thinking, by the picture on the front cover it would be all about making different fret work clocks. No!! just one fretwork clock and all others, are quartz movements set in different shapes of wood. I.e. make a wooden windmill set a movement in it ect

  • great book, good read, inspiring.

Excellent book something in there for all levels of scroll saw operators, from beginners to skilled craftsmen. Excellent designs coupled with accurate materials lists makes this book a must for scroll saw operators and/or wooden clock builders. Certainly going to try my hand at building the wooden geared weight operated clock at sometime in the future. The drawings can all photo-copied to full size by following the instruction to increase the drawing size that is printed on each page.

  • waste of paper this book

Wooden clocks???? most definately not. With one exception these are wooden clock cases and not well designed ones at that, they are picture backs for bought electric mechanisms. The only actual clock is the one pictured on the front which if you are sufficiently acurate at cutting works well,But expect to take 8-24 hours work on each gear to get it to work well

  • good looking book

I have only just received the book and looking through it it looks very interesting can't wait to start making
