I then tried it with my Asus A320 motherboard, and it worked fine. So I'm guessing that the voltages the motherboard supplies to the drive is critical.

I had already purcbased an all aluminium case for £20, so this is my 2nd unit. Thing is, most of the body is plastic on those purchase, and does nor radiate the heat so we'll. For £10, can't complain but if this is your everyday driver, I would avoid. For the occasional use, it's ok and indeed great value
