A great update to my aging car
I own a 17 year old BMW E46, and wanted DAB and Bluetooth. This radio was £30 cheaper than Halfords. With the fascia and the wiring harness, this brought the total to about £140. The wiring harness works fine, but fitting this radio is hard work in my car. I needed an auto electrician to fit it properly, as the E46 has verily limited space behind the radio, and big connectors, and I wanted the DAB aerial and Bluetooth microphone fitting. The radio is easy to set up, although the DAB stations are hard to find, as they are listed by frequency not name. The app is worthwhile, and makes finding your favourite DAB stations a cinch. The rest of the app is useful, whether you want to change the source, set up Spotify or just see the song name. I highly recommend this radio and for the ... Brilliant sound quality, very happy with the stereo, but if you purchased it for the DAB make sure you buy a separate ariel. And also a case for the detachable front.

Does everything you need
This unit is a great ‘do it all’ for in car entertainment. Easy to set up - and it still has the facility for playing cd’s if you still have them. I bought this to replace my previous Pioneer car radio - and I wanted the DAB facility especially. Reception is superb - but you need a roof aerial as opposed to a splitter box or windscreen antenna. I bought the Halfords £10 magnetic mount roof aerial and it’s superb for the price. My only criticism of this Pioneer unit…? In bright sunlight, you can’t see the display - no matter what colour you choose. I have a DEH- X8700DAB in my wife’s car and the display is perfect in all lighting conditions.
