    Excellent Music, Horrible Mastering

    This set covers the period when FM was transitioning from the blues to rock. The songs on all of the CDs are very good, with the exception of 'Kiln House', which is a little weaker than the others. This is early '70s rock at some of it's finest. The problem is that this set is a Rhino reissue of the original Reprise albums and the mixing - or lack thereof - is atrocious. You can barely hear the vocals on some songs and the overall sound is 'washed out'. These were obviously not produced from the master tapes and the sound quality suffers because of this. For this reason, I don't recommend this set. Instead, I would try the new 8 CD set released in Sept. 2020. The CDs from this set are included in the new one, along with 'Penguin', 'Heroes are Hard to Find' and "Live from the ...

    Excellent compilation at a bargain to get to know the earlier Mac!

    Excellent compilation of the earlier albums I never had. It gives me the option to listen to the albums and then decide to buy it on vinyl. Already, Future games and And then play on, are two great albums, mellow and bluesy so it was a good decision and cheap!
