Characters worth meeting again---and young Alan Rickman is unforgettable!
It was good to view this Trollope series again. It is like meeting old friends---great characters---some good and some bad, but all with very human traits. The young Alan Rickman (more recently infamous as Prof. Snape in the Harry Potter series) already has his delicious sneer in place. What a great actor. He is much missed already. If you have read all of Jane Austen over and over...

Worth it for the story alone, but Rickman makes it an absolute treat!
Great cast in all, but Alan Rickman shines as the loathsome Obidiah Slope in his breakout rote. It's impossible to not see this and think, yup, he'd make the perfect Snape! But his acting is more than that, particularly the scenes where he's disingenuously trying to woo the ladies.
