A sound basic programmer for the central heating
Bought this to replace my Honywell programmer that had failed for the 2nd time. The unit takes apart easily for installation and the backplate covered the hole and plaster from the old unit. The wires have room to tuck in behind the controller, including an unused neutral. Followed the instructions, put the supplied batteries in and hey presto, the unit started at the right time and date! There are 2 sheets of instructions, one quick guide that you will need later for reprogramming, and one with all the initial set up. These need to be read and followed very carefully, but at least they are well writen in English. I chose to set mine for the 7 day programme, ie a different time programme for each day of the week as my previous unit. Once I got into the procedure it was just a case of repeating for the 6 time slots for each day. Things that coud be improved on:- 1) A copy button to bring a days settings to to another day when programming. 2) A backlight, the auto/manual/etc arrows and time slots are very small. 3) A quick read button for the current temperature setting. The current room temp is however very visible. 4) Fine tuning of the times or temperatures is laborious. It requires going through the entire programme to change 1 setting! 5) The power relay clicks quite loudly and can be distracting in the quiet. I would recommend as it is value for money, but the above need taking into account.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great features and easy to install.
This replaced an old-style Drayton programmable timer. The installation was a straight swap, although the instructions show a two-wire block connection whereas the unit has a three-wire block connection. Slightly confusing! The unit is pre-programmed and the time is automatically set. The fact that I do not need to alter the time when clocks change in Spring and Autumn is a real bonus. Perfect for upgrading from the old 3 model.
We replaced our old digistat 3 model with this "upgrade" because of its half degree temperature setting increments....this enables much finer programming than the old model thus saving on fuel usage management evening out the peeks and troughs of cut in and out. Identical replacement.
