Fantastic purchase for a reasonable price.
Hornby manufactured their Thomas and Friends range for more than 30 years and produced some quality models of the characters from the TV show. The range was sadly discontinued in 2018, which means products from the range will become increasingly more rare and sought-after over time. Percy will always be a great choice as a first locomotive for your little one and, like so many 0-4-0's that Hornby have produced over the years, he will stand the test of time and provide you with many hours of enjoyment. Remember to take care of him and service him regularly, as these models will become highly valuable and very collectable in years to come. Too Delicate
I purchased this set for my grandson who is 3 years old. The set is far too delicate for him to play with as he doesn't understand that you can't just whack the train down on the track and it will work and you can't pick up the track without it breaking etc. You also need to mount the track onto some kind of rigid board because if you don't, the set is a nightmare to keep running. The controller is lightweight and cheap even though the set itself if far from cheap. All in all I would suggest you give it a miss unless you are buying it for an older child who is used to such things.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

A Must For Any Thomas Fan
Having bought this train set back in September 2018. I think this is a great value train set from Hornby and the quality is exceptional as well, The Thomas engine is high quality and is a nice almost silent runner that looks good on the included oval of track. The train set contains Thomas with Annie and Clarabel to you started into the world of model railways and thomas the tank engine. There is a basic train set controller included that is enough to provide power to the model Thomas train. The running quality is very smooth from the locomotive and the train set includes a DVD of the 20 episodes from the television series as well that will give hours fo entertainment too.
