A ferocious firebreathing dragon terrorizes the sixth-century English countryside, but the kingdom of Urland is strangely at ease--the king has made an evil pact with the dragon, offering to sacrifice virgins twice a year in exchange for peace. The unfortunate victims are culled from the kingdom's poorer families, but when the king's own daughter is next in line, a powerful wizard (Sir Ralph Richardson) and his youthful apprentice (Ally McBeal's Peter MacNicol) are called in to slay the dragon using their arsenal of magic and sorcery. This awesome movie was just as entertaining as when I first saw it. I am pleased that this DVD was reasonably priced, shipped quickly and was exactly as advertised. I expect more enjoyable viewings to come.

This movie is kinda okay. It's got a good plot, but it takes too long to get to the point of the movie. Also acting is slip shot, meaning that there's times it's good. Then it is looking really poor. If you like fantasy movies it's not that great, but it's not too bad either. But that's my opinion, if you decide to go and get it. You might be sure you can return it. If you don't like it. In other words it depends on your taste.

Love this 80s animation movie
I really enjoy this style of animation since its old school hand drawn animation and the director made fritz the cat and many other great animation movies. Also Mark Hamill does some voice work at the same time as he was staring in the original star wars movie.

Charming and well acted!
The leads--Peter MacNicol and Caitlin Clarke--are very good in this underdog feminist dragon story. The effects still hold up, but the core of the film is in the performances.
