    Smooth, strong, well-built

    The Diawa BG is one of the best reels for the buck when it comes to fresh/salt fishing. I live in Ohio but fish the ocean a few times a year and wanted a reel that could hold up. I paired the Diawa BG2000 onto a 7' medium light rod for inshore fishing and also bass fishing back home. It's phenomenal - smooth operation, casts like a dream, and a great value for the cost. Would recommend 10/10 times. Be sure to match your reel size with the appropriate rod and species your're targeting.

    Better than MQ in my opinion!

    I got this reel before Daiwa stops making them in preference to their BG-MQ. I know there are pros to the MQ series but I am old school and like to be able to service my own reel. This reel is fully serviceable when it needs being cleaned and re-lubed. I also like this reel over Shimanos that have a bearing in their line roller. I'll take a bushing that can be easily cleaned and lubed over a bearing that fails with the slightest bit of sand which is ever-present on the beach. I was spooled twice fishing for speckled trout when a cow-nosed ray decided to get foul hooked. Drag, bail, and reel are amazing even after pulling off over 200 yards each time. Love Daiwas!

    Reels don't get better than this one at this price.

    I don't think a spinning reel could get any better than this one this is my third BG and every one of them are exemplary, incredible quality, smoothness, smooth drag. if you want the best reel, that you can hand down years later as an heirloom this is the reel.

    Daiwa BG2000

    This is a great reel at a great price. With 7 bearings it's very smooth wihen you turn the handle and the drag works very smooth as well. These reels are built like tanks and will last for many years. I have used my Daiwa BG60 many times in the ocean for catching Bonito and also the Salton Sea so I know they hold up in salt water. I would highly recommend the Daiwa BG series if you want a tough and reliable reel that will last for generations. You can't go wrong!

    BG 2000

    I picked this up for 65-ish, with a eBay coupon. Haven't use it yet but the reel is well built and smooth. I own about 20 spinning reels most in $100 price point. This reel might be slightly heavy but is solid and smooth.
