    The Meade ETX-90EC telescope is a portable observatory designed for both astronomers and amateur stargazers. With 90mm Maksutov-Cassegrain optics, built-in flip mirror mechanism, and fast and easy alignment procedure, this telescope allows users to easily locate moon craters, cloud belts on Jupiter, Saturn's rings, and more. With a 1250 mm focal length and a f/13.8 focal ratio, celestial observations have clarity and detail. The AutoStar Suite Planetarium software allows total computer control of the mount and telescope, and access to a database of over 30,000 celestial objects. Weight is less than ten pounds, so the telescope is lightweight and easy to transport.

      Great scope, but dated.

      For the price ( $250) I can't imagine a more powerful scope. It's a great tool for stargazing, and of excellent quality. Downsides are it's dated, and difficult to find parts for. Meade's website is poorly constructed, making many accessories very difficult to find. Software hasn't been updated in years. When you do find them, you'll easily invest more than the cost of the scope in needed accessories.

      Great Telescope

      I bought the ETX-90 because I wanted quality and portability. I was looking at the moon during the day 30 minutes after It came in the mail. The optics are special and very good on this scope. Spend a little more and be sure you get one with as many accessories as you can get. Like both the controllers and the tripod with the wedge.

      The telescope of very good quality and was in excellent condition with the exception of the declination gear which was broken. This has been a recurring problem with this model telescope. However, I was able to find an online repair service which did an excellent job o just $35. The gear is now better than new and the scope works fine.
