Video formats supported by the Apple TV are videos purchased on the iTunes Store, as well as H.264, protected H.264, and MPEG-4. You are also able to make use of your home theater system to listen to your music, with formats such as AAC, protected AAC, MP3, Apple Lossless, and WAV. There are a range of options for how you choose to connect the Apple TV A1218 with your high-definition television, including with HDMI, component video, or optical audio. As for accessing your Mac or PC’s iTunes account, you have the choice of either 10/100BASE-T Ethernet cable or over an 802.11n wireless network. Measuring only 1.1 inches high and a surface area of 7.7 square inches, this media streamer can conveniently fit on or in a home entertainment unit.

    1st gen Apple TV

    I purchased the first GEN Apple TV because of the fact that it has a hard drive that I can hack. For my particular set up it works, I am off grid and it makes it easier to perform functions I would like to do.

    Can’t log into Apple ID

    Due to current Apple requirements of two factor identification it is impossible to activate this device with an Apple ID. Can be hacked and new operating system be loaded on it if you’re adventurous. I should’ve researched this before purchasing. It would be awesome if it wasn’t locked out.

    Works fine; that's all that matters!

    Needed it to replace my original unit that is still working, but the hard drive is screaming! I loaded this replacement and it works fine. Wish Apple would have continued putting a hard drive in the new models.

    The Price WAS Right!

    I bought this to disassemble and tweak, i. e. (solid state hard drive and reinstall original iOS). Unit tends to overheat. This is due to poor design. Unit has plenty of ventilation but it is covered by rubber on the bottom. Hint: Remove rubber and dissolve the adhesive and install 4 rubber stick-on feet.
