    Excellent Haydn Symphony Cycle.

    This is a very good box set with all 104 Symphonies plus Symphonies A and B and the Sinfonia Concertante (not listed on the box). They were recorded in the Haydnsaal over a fifteen year period and although both the performing style and recorded sound changed over that time this is not so much a problem as to be expected. The only reason for not giving five stars is that although the set comes with a general booklet about the composer, conductor, orchestra and recording project, there are no notes on the symphonies themselves, which would help clarify a large number of similar works!

THE ONLY ADVICE I CAN GIVE IS THAT ANYONE WANTING A COMPLETE SET OF THESE SYMPHONIES SHOULD CHECK OUT ON WHAT IS AVAILABLE, AND MAKE UP THEIR OWN MINDS WHICH INTERPRETATIONS BEST SUIT THEM. BUT THESE FISCHER RECORDINGS HAVE A LOT GOING FOR THEM, AND IT IS HARD TO IMAGINE THAT ANYONE OPTING FOR THIS SET WILL FEEL DISAPPOINTED.

    Excellent, complete symphonies by Haydn.

    This set is incredible. It's ALL of Haydn's symphonies (100+) at a reasonable price. While I'm not an expert, in my estimation the performances are uniformly beautiful and recorded very well.
