This is something that I've always wanted to add to my tool box, but when I recently found myself with a number of friends and neighbours who's batteries had suffered due to the low temperatures and, I needed to ascertain which could be recharged and reused and which were scrap and needed replacing, I just had to buy one. This device does everything that I need it to - and at such little cost for something so apparently robust!

    Bergen (soon to be US Tools) Battery Tester B6602

    After first use (only 10 seconds) smoke came billowing out. Found leads had melted inside and that actually they were made from ordinary household 3 core flex. Unfortunately, whoever assembled it left connections to switch loose and so there was only one 13amp path for over 680cca. I had a trusted multimeter across the battery during the test and at least the needle seemed only 0.2volts out. If they really wanted to use 3 core they might have got away with 3x4.0mm^2 caravan flex cross connected at the switch. Saddened to see Bergen putting out such a shoddy product.
