Worth paying extra
The cheaper traps sold alongside shower trays are usually quite flimsy. The McAlpine comprises a thick plastic reservoir with removable inner for cleaning and chromed brass top with removable grid. Care should be taken in initially screwing the metal top to the plastic base as it is easy to cross thread it and not form a complete seal.

Quality product
First of all, I didn't measure up correctly, so the item didn't actually fit. I cannot therefore review how good at draining away it is. what I can say is that it's made of quality materials and seemed to be really well made with thorough instructions. Nice looking unit.
